CARE DURING AND AFTER TATTOOING

19 September 2023

Welcome back, tattoo enthusiasts! Now, let's talk about care during and after your session, so you keep in mind the important points you should consider and have a truly satisfying experience.

Very important! Remember that each tattoo artist has their own care guidelines, so follow their instructions to the letter.

During the tattoo:

  1. Trust your tattoo artist: Don't interfere, trust their expertise, and don't touch your tattoo.
  2. Prepare for pain: The level of pain varies, so be realistic. Consider using an anesthetic cream if necessary.
  3. Avoid sudden movements: Stay calm and avoid sudden movements for a flawless result.
  4. Hydration and nourishment: Bring water and snacks to maintain your energy. You'll thank yourself for it!
  5. Short breaks: Your tattoo artist may take short breaks; use them to stretch and relax if needed.
  6. Avoid illicit substances: Stay clear of them during the session.

Now, after the tattoo:

  1. Tattoo covering patch: Protect your artwork from contamination and bacteria with a patch for 12-24 hours.
  2. Maintain hygiene: Clean the tattooed area daily, especially during the first three days.
  3. Be cautious with creams: Use liquid moisturizing creams after three days, applying small amounts.
  4. Moderation in diet: Avoid overeating for uncomplicated healing.
  5. Be careful around wet areas: Avoid pools, rivers, and saunas for the first 3 weeks to protect your tattoo, as they are high-risk bacterial environments that can complicate the healing process.
  6. What about the gym? If you've had a tattoo, take a break from the gym for at least a week to avoid sweat and healing problems.

In summary, take care of your tattoo before, during, and after to ensure it always looks as you desire. These tips are the result of my experience as a professional tattoo artist. Do you have any other advice you'd like to share? See you in the next Aramayotattoos blog! Goodbye!
